作为中央指导组专家组成员，童朝晖每天要巡诊两到三家医院的重症病房，除了武汉，还要奔赴孝感、黄冈、黄石、鄂州等地指导重症患者救治。每到一个床位，他都会向主管医生和护士提出一连串的问题，督促医护人员专注于每一个诊疗细节。
17年前，童朝晖在北京临危受命，担任sars病房主任，收治近百例非典患者，无一病亡。17年后的今天，他再次请缨来到疫情一线。
刚到武汉时，童朝晖用了两天时间，把当时定点收治新冠肺炎患者的三家医院的收治情况摸查了一遍，并做了详细的查房笔记，总结新冠肺炎的发病特征，为后续来到湖北的重症医务人员提供了宝贵的经验。目前，湖北已汇集了1.9万多名重症专业医务人员。
